The Holiday Season may officially have ended according to the calendar. I ask that the feelings created by that time of the year fill your hearts throughout the year. Remember the "True Reason for the Season" and the Principles of Kwanzaa in 2013.
Practice gratitude
Gratitude is everywhere during the holidays. I mean, Thanksgiving was founded on the idea of giving thanks for the blessings you received in your life. Why not extend this all year round? You can start by thanking God for something each morning when you wake up. Say to God, “I am grateful for ________.” When you practice gratitude, in effect, you are thanking God for everything that you have. The more you appreciate what you have, the more will come to you because you aren't taking things for granted and you aren't thinking about what you are lacking. Gratitude gives you abundance. Being and feeling that abundance makes you happier. You look for the richness in life! Like friends for a game of basketball, cards or just hanging out. It’s ok to take time for yourself to recharge – whether that is dining on good food or doing something relaxing or hanging out with friends. Indulge a little every once in awhile throughout the year.

Stay balanced in life

Over the last few years, it seems the work/ life balance has gotten out of whack. There has been more emphasis on work and less emphasis on life. Holidays are great because you get to take time off and spend it with people you love. You can keep this going throughout the year by being intentional in setting healthy boundaries and maintaining positive relationships.
