Welcome to 2013!

Dear family and friends,

When we declare that ”WE ARE ANTIOCH!”  It is not a catchy slogan or a simple tag line.  “We ARE ANTIOCH” means we are committed followers of Jesus Christ. It means we are honestly and very sincerely going about doing the work of the One who has sent us. “We ARE ANTIOCH” indicates pride in our history, in our present and an anticipation and expectancy for our blessed future.

As we enter into 2013, we realize that God is at work and so are WE! In the fourth chapter of Luke’s gospel, Jesus unrolls the scroll of the Prophet Isaiah and found his mission and purpose. Jesus was sent into the world to with the Spirit of the Lord upon Him in order that He might: “preach the good news (the Gospel) to the poor;  to announce release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to send forth as delivered those who are oppressed [who are downtrodden, bruised, crushed, and broken down by calamity], to proclaim the accepted and acceptable year of the Lord [the day [l]when salvation and the free favors of God profusely abound].” (Amplified version) After reading Jesus sat down and said that the scripture had been fulfilled in the ears of those who heard him that day.

God is at Work and So are WE! Our objectives this year are to continue walking in the example Christ has set preaching, teaching, mentoring, sharing and setting free from systems of oppression through these ministries and through our gifts and serving through missions.  Presently our congregation serves more than twenty local, national, international and collegiate organizations annually. During the cold winter months, our bible study will be experienced through a centralized conference call center. This allows our honored elders to remain safe and warm in addition to allowing more persons to participate. You are welcome to join us. See our Bible Study page for the information on materials we will use.

2013, with God’s blessing, will celebrate our Men’s Weekend in March hosting the esteemed and honorable Rev. Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr. as our preacher for Palm Sunday.  The Rev. Dr. Sedgwick Easley is a son of Antioch and a dynamic preacher. All of us, family and friends are overjoyed that he has readjusted his calendar to be with us for Homecoming in August and to celebrate my first anniversary as pastor; my dear friend the Rev. Linda F. Miller from Charlotte, N.C will bring the morning message. I know there is a Word from the Lord and she will certainly not withhold it from us. Family, we have confirmed that my beloved pastor and previous pastor of Antioch, Rev. Angelo V. Chatmon and the Pilgrim Journey Baptist Church Family will be our honored guests for Church Anniversary in November.  Our Women’s Ministry is planning an awesome conference and the Children and Youth have many ministry opportunities in store including their continued visits with the residence of the Riverside Convalescent Home.  God is at Work…And So Are WE! WE ARE ANTIOCH!!!!

You can be a part of this ministry of God by praying with us, joining us for worship and Bible Study or any ministry opportunity!  If we can be of service to you in any way, please let us know!

2013, We Are ANTIOCH- Where God is At Work & So Are WE!!!

Many Blessings!
