Take Some Time Today...

Picture
Psalm 119:105 states that God's Word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our pathway, therefore I am inviting you to walk with us by the light of of the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament), by the light of the Prophets, Psalms and Proverbs. Walk with us by the light of the New Testament, The Gospels, Paul's letters to the churches and to his disciples and yes, walk with us by the light of our steadfast hope in the return of Christ.

Taking a journey with God daily opens you up to learn more about God and the intention for your life. The journey also offers encouragement during times of struggle and grief, enlightenment and education in addition to providing another means of strengthening your personal faith.

What can you get from Devotional Time?

ENCOURAGEMENT – The devotionals may speak to your situation, encourage you, and tell you how to come out of the situation.

ENLIGHTENMENT –   The devotionals are Word-centered. Reading a devotional will prompt you to read more of the Word of God.

EDUCATION –  Helping to increase your faith – the Word of God says "faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God." As you read the daily devotionals and meditate on the Scriptures that are cited, your faith is stirred up.

A portion of our church covenant pledges that we will create space for God daily in our secret and family devotions. Here is a great way to start:

DEVOTIONAL READINGS
Micah 5:2-5
Luke 1:46-55 or Psalm 80:1-7
Hebrews 10:5-10
Luke 1:39-45, (46-55)

* Each Sunday, the weeks readings will be posted. If you would like to download the full list for this Season of Advent for you own use, it can be found here: http://lectionary.library.vanderbilt.edu/lections.php?year=C&season=Advent
